Our staff are 100% committed to meeting this goal and work very closely with customers to ensure mutual success. Established in 2004, the Manufacturing Services team at Compass Systems has supported the rapid prototyping and production of thousands of electronic assemblies and critical systems. These systems have supported critical need customers in both the defense and industrial sectors.
The Manufacturing Services team provides rapid prototyping, build-to-print services or through onsite Compass Systems Engineering staff value added design solutions.
Located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the Manufacturing Services team leverages the strong manufacturing base and highly skilled local workforce. Our 15,000ft2 facility is located in the historic Commerce Center facility located in the heart of Johnstown.
Manufacturing Quality Statement
Quality is an integral component of Compass Systems. We pride ourselves on the quality of the products we manufacture. In-process and final inspections are performed by qualified and trained personnel using approved procedures, instructions and forms. Our Quality Management System is certified to ISO9001:2008 & AS9100C. All inspectors are trained to IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, AS-50881, NAVAIR 01-1A-505, and other military standards and specifications.

Built per strict IPC-A-620, AS50881, NAVAIR 01-1A-505 and other military standards our certified technicians are experienced with the production of the following assemblies: multi-conductor, 38999, single leg, multi leg, circular, rectangular, d-sub, micro-d, coax, twinax, quadrax, VPC, Arinc, crimp contact, solder contacts, shielded, twisted pair, EMI shielding, hot stamping, sleeving, tubing, fiber optic, nail boards, automated production equipment, and more.
Fiber Optic Assemblies
Technicians are experienced in a variety of specialized fiber optic cable assemblies: single-mode, multi-mode, tooling for a full range of fiberoptic termini and connectors, polishing, fusion splicing, testing, and more.
Over-molding & Potting Services
Meter-mix watertight neoprene and urethane over-molding services. Custom mold and cavity design & manufacturing capabilities. Potting and encapsulation assemblies.
Machine Taping & Braiding Services
In-house cable harness machine taping and braiding services for both textile and metallic EMI shielding.
Electronic Module / Panel Assemblies
Full range of electro-mechanical assembly services including: CNC metal parts, fabricated assemblies, printed circuit boards (PCBs), circuit card assembly (CCA), multi-layer, heavy copper, flex circuits, sensors, soldering, surface mount, ESD controlled assembly, control panel wiring, rack mounted electronics, and more.
Wire Cut & Labeling
Compass Systems utilizes a variety of equipment in the wire cut and labeling department. Both traditional marked heat shrink sleeving and hot stamping as required per build.
Test activities are carried out using qualified and calibrated test equipment. A variety of specialized test equipment and methods are utilized to certify and test all assemblies. The quality and test department utilizes a mix of the following in order to ensure 100% compliance:
CIRRIS automated testers (CR & CH2) for continuity, insulation resistance and hi-potential tests, immersion, dimensional, fiber optic inspection, insertion loss, power loss, VSWR, DBT300 1553B Databus tester, Anritsu S820E Cable and Antenna Analyzer, specialized test fixtures, and more.
